Rude agent. We ended up firing her
We had the most obnoxious, rude agent. I have bought and sold at least 10 houses in my day and have never been treated as badly as a BH agent treated us.
User's recommendation: Run, don't use
They are kicking us out of rental home
Hathaway is going back on their word and not allowing my family to renew their lease. Not only are they liars, they waited 3 months to tell me they were lying and I now have only 3 months to move my family.
The reason they gave me for going back on their word was that if they allowed a 3 month lease it would be inconvenient for them to rent the home at that time (September).
They profited off the sale of my home as well as my leasing one of their properties but are discarding me like a tissue. Beware to anyone doing business with this company for any reason, They are gutless, spineless, cowards with rotten souls that don't care about tenants.
User's recommendation: DO NOT RENT from them unless you like homeless shelters

Verified ReviewerThey placed a Lien on the property I listed with them
I signed a Vacant Land Listing Agreement for $8625 dated 6/5/2015 and stating: This agreement does not guarantee a sale. I declined an offer for $7500 which the realtor/broker got very upset about and told me I owed broker $750 even though no sale was made.
I thought that was the end of it. Now I am selling the land and a lien pops up that I did not know about for this sales agreement which lists the date of the agreement incorrectly. At any rate, I was never served or mailed any notice so that I could respond which I certainly would have as I did not agree to the offer made so no sale was made to pay a commission on. There is no statement on the "Lien" that it was delivered to me so that I would have time to reply.
I can't believe this fraudulent lien was filed. I don't know how these people sleep at night!
- Unfair fraudulent practices
Preferred solution: Remove This Lien

Verified Reviewer | Kingsport, TennesseeBecause of ur agent I am now a disabled, homeless vet.
Ur agent and I were suppose to sign a lease for an apartment Monday. She has cancelled 3 times this week and I told her that I have to be out of my apartment no later than Monday.
She won't answer or return calls and after I went to her office today for our scheduled lease signing she just didn't show up.
Now I'm faced with the realization that I will be homeless as of Monday and she obviously doesn't care about a disabled vet being screwed over and being left homeless because of her. This is so unprofessional.

Last year I entered into contract for a property 59 Miller Hill Dr, Lagrangeville, NY listed by:
Michelle Ayala
Berkshire Hathaway Home Services
1100 Route 55 Suite 201
Lagrangeville, NY 12540
We entered into this contract with the assumption the realtor did due diligence in understanding the fiscal integrity of the owner. My home in CT was “sold” and just a few weeks short of setting a closing date, a $440,000 lien popped up in the property, According to my attorney the seller, a corporation that flips homes, is well known to have serious financial issues including but not limited to tax delinquencies.
The realtor suggested I move into this property as a rental while the owner attempted to resolve the IRS lien, fortunately I am not that stupid and I moved to terminate the contract, losing my $525 appraisal and almost $830 in water testing (the water test failed).
While I had my deposit returned, I am out over $1000 due to a seller with serious delinquencies that were not disclosed.
It is evident that Berkshire Hathaway should engage in due diligence in screening clients. Remarkably the house is back on the market with an unresolved tax issue that is basically contingent on selling the house. So, another unsuspecting home buyer may find themselves in the same situation. I am out almost $1300 and the kick in the gut was that the seller wanted me to give him the appraisal I paid for to help with his negotiation with IRS.
Additionally, the seller had substantial building code issues.
Collateral damage of this real estate transaction gone bad is that I had to delay the closing of my current house which is going to end up costing me $10,000.
I do not understand why Berkshire and this agent would represent a client with a negative financial history. Engaging a client of this nature has resulted in significant financial loss to me.
I sincerely hope you take action, drop this client and avoid financial damage to potential buyers
Preferred solution: Refund of appraisal, water test costs
EUN, DONT WALK AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE BUNCH OF NINCOMPOOPS
Had never heard of this useless, horrible, disrespectful group of "realtors". And recently sold our home in NC, the new owners used this nasty group of incompetents and THEY had same feelings.
Have never had such a horrendous experience as I have had with these idiots....and I AM being Nice. Never use them, they are truly worse than the having No Realtor at all...
Don't trust your agent even if daughter-in-law
We down sized to older 50s classic house. Yes there was work to be done.
But to have our agent lie, belittle, cover up items. Is friggin wrong. The seller was also a realtor. We are taking her and her husband (realtor) to court.
Now the house had old built ins. But they also had some other items that were considered built in. And was a selling point to my wife. But we're removed.
Items were not mentioned in contract, but our daughter in law made us out to be fools , liars, just stupid old trashy people.. she didn't even hand us keys .. I understand that the seller (realtor &seller) cut a deal with my daughter in law.
... well hopefully she won't have to be drug into court for lying and not doing as she so swore to do as a real estate agent.

Horrible realtor experience
After interviewing many realtors we decided to go with Berkshire Hathaway Home services as it was offered by my company and the realtor seemed great. After listing our home we received 2 offers within the first week.
Our realtor then turned up the pressure to accept a lower offer than what we wanted to get. After explaining to him we were in no rush to sell and could financially handle two mortgages at once he told us that it was not possible to get the price we wanted. We had to force him to provide a counteroffer to our potentials buyers, which they ultimately accepted. Then he decided to congratulate himself on getting the higher price which he didn’t want to do in the first place.
As most knowledgeable sellers would do we requested that our listing remain open and active for offers during the attorney review process. It is our right as sellers. He refused and marked the listing as inactive and claimed no one else had any interest in the property. In reality he had already marked the sale as a done deal in his mind and neglected to cultivate any additional interest.
The problem was we still needed to find a new home to move into. During this process he remained uninterested, rude and displayed egotistical tendencies throughout the remainder of the process. He even decided that it was in his best interest to scream at me in the driveway of one of he homes we were considering purchasing because we had submitted a complaint to his direct manager about his behavior. After this episode we contacted our lawyer to terminate his contract.
Unfortunately if we were to terminate his contract we would have had to also terminate the sale prior to moving. onto a new realtor. It is unfortunate that due to legal restrictions we could not move on from this realtor. We were sure to mention our displeasure to the office manager but never really got anywhere.
Overall we could never recommend this company to anyone for buying and selling a home.
They need to remember that the client is important not how many sales you have received in the past. Sometimes huh achieving realtors can develop an ego, which is clearly what happened in our case.
Horrible Realtor Experience
We had a horrible experience with Betsy Willsey with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices in Fredericksburg, VA. She was very unprofessional and did not work in our best interest.
We felt we had no representation. Let me explain why.
She went out of the country and did not inform us beforehand, so we knew who to talk to if anything came up. Unfortunately, we got our first offer during this time and we couldn’t call her with questions or concerns. It was all via email.
The very least we deserved was a heads up before she left.
Once we had a ratified contract, after the inspections, we had growing concerns about legal ramifications and no longer felt comfortable in the contract. She completely dismissed our concerns, tried to force the deal to go through, and went behind our back to get septic prices, even though we told her we couldn’t get a price due to the age of the septic. Apparently she thought we were lying.
She told us a handful of times a woe-is-me story about the buyers, they were going through a life change and might have unexpected expenses. She did this trying to get us to accept whatever they put on the table (their initial offer was ridiculously low and hindsight, we should have denied it, but we were trying to work something out with them).
Later negotiations were the same, they weren’t willing to give at all. But our realtor, who was supposed to be working for us, seemed more like she was working for the buyers. It felt like the buyers had 2 realtors and we had no representation.
She came out and told us that she was looking forward to the commission. This was after there had been some difficulties with the negotiations.
By the time she said this, we already felt like that’s all she was worried about so it didn't come as a shock, except for the fact that she actually said it out loud.
She doesn’t do open houses because she says they are a waste of time. She won’t market your house other than the bare basic of putting it on MLS. She will not listen to your concerns or requests. We saw her a total of 2 times during the 2 months we were working with her.
Once when she first came out to look at our house, and another time when the photographer came out. That’s it. We had a part time realtor who didn’t want to do the work and just wanted the house to sell itself. If that’s what you want to pay 5.5% (+ a $325 archive fee) to, but we certainly felt like she wasn’t doing the job we hired her to do.
We did voice our concerns to her broker, but he was completely dismissive and said she’s their top realtor.
If that’s the best they have, that quite embarrassing. We wanted to discuss releasing the $500 early termination fee because we felt she also did not abide by the listing agreement contract and we were incredibly unsatisfied with her (lack of) service. The broker stated they had to recoup their costs somehow. So then my husband dropped by the office to speak to him in person but was told he was busy.
My husband said he’d wait, the receptionist went back to his office, he heard some laughter, then she came back out and said he’d be busy all day. Very unprofessional. I definitely will not be working with Berkshire Hathaway Realty in the future for that reason. I also work for a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, and this is truly embarrassing that they conduct business this way.
I wish I had done my homework before signing on with her.
That was my fault, and it would have saved us a lot of heartache and headache. But that’s why I’m writing this review, so others are aware of her practices, at least what we experienced, so you can make an educated decision before signing your home away.
We ended up using Jon Snow with United Real Estate.
He was absolutely wonderful and I would highly recommend Jon. He’s the epitome of a realtor that works for YOU.
